Apple TV plays FLAC, but not even the new Music replacement for iTunes has been enabled to do so. I should mention Audirvana processes native DSD 128 and 256 internally without any extra drivers or Bitperfect. Depending on your DACs there is also access to additional settings for it such as DoP using PCM 1.0 or 1.1 as well as rendering options for MQA. Audirvana Remote on the phone also allows you to switch between output devices and connected DACs which iTunes Remote can't and requires access to System Preferences. No more unscheduled interruptions from the OS. The System Optomizer extreme priority setting pretty much takes over the machine dedicating the majority of resources to processing music and gives individual choices to disable Spotlight, Time Machine and detection of iDevices on USB or not.

Audirvana runs without invention until I need to update it or manage my library. This was usually something in the OS requiring attention even though nothing else was ever running. iTunes would run for days or even weeks, but all to often it would require intervention necessitating removal of the mini from the system and hooking up the periphery a real PITA. I sought refund from the developer as it is demonstably unfit for its stated purpose but they have not responded so I will now contact Apple directly. Furthermore, 90% of the gapless playback does not work (compared to allways working when merely using iTunes). The sound quality was not demonstrably superior to simply playing back in iTunes and selecting the appropriate output sample rate in AudioMidiSettings. Weird stuttering of the audio would develop with some configurations but changing settings arbitrarily might or might not fix on any give occasion.
